Alan Kerins African Projects
In January 2005, Alan Kerins travelled to the town of Mongu in western Zambia with nothing more in mind than a short three-month stint as a voluntary physiotherapist in a local centre for physically disabled children. What he saw triggered a fundraising campaign that has since helped change lives and futures forever. Since March 2005, over a quarter of a million euro has been raised on behalf of the Alan Kerins African Projects. These funds have been invested into a variety of essential projects and services and have helped ease the suffering and hardship experienced by some of the poorest people in the world. Sunflowers Chernobyl Appeal
The Sunflowers Chernobyl Appeal is a voluntary organisation dedicated to helping the Chernobyl Children who live in a land contaminated by the world’s worst nuclear disaster. The organisation is especially close to the hearts of the Galway Senior Football team who undertook a fundraising run in support of fellow player Niall Coleman, who is an active member of The Sunflowers Chernobyl Appeal. The players ran from Tuam Stadium to Pearse Stadium on the 29th of December last and raised €36,500 for the organisation.
